I have a new, never used Duraline 14" Concert head, as well as Remo 14" Falams-K White Coated, 14" Natural Super and 14" Natural w/Dot plus some Compo 14"synthetic heads -- all new/old stock.
Duraline Snare Heads
Evans make a great kevlar hybrid snare head. It sounds dry yet fat and is practically indestructible - just like the old Duraline, but better. I know because I had one back in the 80s. The Evans Hybrid even looks better as it is a dark grey/black weave. Couple it with one of Evans' 500 glass snare-side heads and away you go!
I thought I was the only one to really dig those Duraline heads... Used them on snare for years and years. Great tone, no damping necessary, tough as hell - would actually wear through and still sound and work great.
Unfortunately, the Evans and Remo woven heads are no comparison at all. They're designed for marching snare and have a heavy, thick coating. The Duraline's I used were single ply, un-coated, and worked equally well for anything from soft brushes to hard rock bashing! I miss 'em!
