Drum Master Badge

I am trying to get some information about an old vintage set of drums having a badge with the name Drum Master on it. Can anyone identify this set and tell me when it was made? I'm thinking Leedy and Strupe possibly around 1935?

Take a magnifier and see if you can read what it says around the grommet! That'll help to I.D. this kit. I just got off the phone with Jess from Steve Maxwell's N.Y. store. He told me he's never heard of 'Drum Master' drums, but that it could be a Ludwig, or Leedy knock-off. Jess said that Ludwig and Leedy etc. manufactured some kits back then and put other companies, and music stores labels on them. Not a lot of those around, but there are some. That kit could be one of those 'music dealer' labelled kits.

I like the tacked toms! Cool, but probably a bee-atch to keep in tune.

Hi, Mark!

This is one of the many reasons I respect John so much. How many people would take the time and effort to help out a complete stranger, fellow member or not? John has always proven himself to be one of the most helpful contributors this forum has to offer. His deeds and actions speak to reinforce his nature as a true gentleman and unselfish human being. On behalf of all of us, I would like to thank John for his great contributions! Thanks, amigo!!!

P.S. I've never heard of Drum Master drums. Sorry.

Just a drummer who loves all things about vintage drums! Nothing more, nothing less.

Further research has led me to determine they were Sold by Sears, Roebuck in 1941. Only made for two years 1940 and 1941 on the Drum Master name. Connected to Leedy and Strupe in that period. Thanks for the responses.

Yes, exactly what does that fine print say around the grommet? Now I'm curious too.

Mike, it's fuzzy, could be wear from the badge moving around the grommet, but it looks like printing/copy to me. I'll bet there's info about where it was made - if it's writing and not just smudging.
