Drum Birthdays

Loading...

This set turns 58 today so I celebrated at the gig last night.

I can't be the only one who celebrates their vintage drum birthdays.

Maybe here people won't think I'm nuts.. ;)

Not at all nuts. While Rogers did not date stamp shells, it is fairly easy to figure out what year a drum belongs to. And I know when I bought them for me. I do celebrate that.

Very cool! I somehow remember a lot of the dates on my drums as well. I recently bought a drum and the day that I happened to detail it ended up being the month and day of the date stamp oddly enough.

Would these two badges off my Vintage Yamahas be enough to identify year manufactured?

Thanks to anyone for trying.

This leads me to the question: does anyone have a drum with their actual birthday stamped inside? I've been looking for years but no luck yet.

I was born on Saturday June 1 1968. Closest I've come is May 29 1968 with a 6.5x14 Super Sensitive & June 7 1968 with a Supra. I was told that there is a possibility that there is a drum out there with June 1 as the Ludwig factory may have had folks working then but so far...no luck.

I still look!

I was however, able to find a real nice Acro dated Nov 22 1967 which is my best friends bday & gave to him last year as a present.

He was pretty blown away by that!
