Don't Downbeats usually fetch more than this? Last viewed: 3 minutes ago

Yes.....but eBay is NO kind of gauge for estimating value anymore. It's absolutely hit/miss.

Beautiful shell pack, btw. Someone got a GREAT deal!

What?!?!?!? Sheesh! You guys should come to Portland some time, where Downbeats DON'T sell for the ungodly high price of $1,000 left and right. I guess that's how some guys make their living buying and selling around here...

I don't know if the word "usually" is even appropriate to use any more. Like it or not, Downbeats, as well as other kit configurations, sell for whatever the highest bidder happens to offer at the specific time of sale provided no reserve is established when the listing is posted. I've seen historical prices go all over the board lately.

I expected that it would sell for more; note that this re-wrap sold for $1500.

I think that the listing ending on Thursday afternoon at 2:00 PM EST may

have had something to do with it.

I didn't bit it past $1,000 because I suspected that it was a re-wrap. The

grommets look newish to me plus there were no pictures of the interiors

and there was a lack of detail in the description.

If I'm buying a 'museum quality' kit, I want closeups of everything and

great detail in the description.

On the other hand, it was a good deal even if it was re-wrapped and a

GREAT deal if it was all original. I figured it'd bring more.

Looks NOS in the pictures. The seller should have provided interior pics and a more detailed description.
