From AZBill

I thought he played Slingerland, early on. Not sure what the bigger kit was. Or, maybe he mentioned his mom bought him his first set, which were Slingerland and I think he still has them.Love the Eagles. Catch History of the Eagles vid, if you get a chance. Parts I & II. Great stories.B

Yes his first kit was a red sparkle Slingy and according to the movie he still has that kit, he played dixieland jazz with it.

What's this kit? looks like a Gretsch stop sign badge??

Oops I meant the last album the original Eagles recorded called "The Long Run" not the reunion stuff. He did switch to DW around 1990 and has played them since. But what was that kit he played on that album it had 6 huge toms, light colored natural finish, not bottom heads, like concert toms. Just curious. Saw a video recently.

If you're refering to the lighter finished concert tom kit, they were Tama Superstars.

You can see them in the Eagles documentary.

Here's a reverse and side photo of Don playing Luddies and the wooden timbales.http://www.corbisimages.com/images/Corbis-DZ003005.jpg?size=67&uid=c7a9885c-da61-4857-8528-9bfb27845701

If you take a closer look, you can see the lugs on the toms and bass drum are Tama and not Ludwig.Just disreguard the Ludwig logo batter head on the bass drum.

The double tom holder is the Tama 6682 and not Ludwig.

Notice also that the toms and bass drum are stained the same color ar the exterior finish, which clearly makes them Tama Superstars.Ludwig was not staining the inside of their shells

.If you closely at the snare it looks to be a Tama Powerline or Kingbeat .The drum shell has Tama lugs and two sets of 4 lines which go around the drum and is again distinctly Tama.
