Difference between Two-piece, Universal, and Pioneer Ludwig snare drums?

Loading...

Can anyone weigh in on the comparisons? I know a lot about two-piece shells - heavy, crimped beds, welded bearing edges, two-piece (!!), nickel over brass shell, 338 throw. I have one of these. My favourite snare drum!

While the Rob Cook book is great, there is such little discussion on Ludwig NOB snares. It's all about black beauties and supras!

Universal?

Pioneer?

Shell construction, bearing edges, snare bed shape, and ballpark years of manufacture?

Thanks!
