Decent drum score...

Loading...

Was at a local music store and heard a guy asking associate if they bought used kits, I immediately said "I do!" We got to talking exchanged numbers on Saturday and sealed the deal tonight.

Included in package was:

22" Istanbul k (late 50's I believe), 15" Istanbul K hi hats (similar age), Paiste 18 and 20 inch black labels, 16" Zildjian 1960's

Ludwig B/O 26, 16, 18 and 13 & 14 concert toms, 15" KB Tom, 6.5x 14 Lidwig Super Sens. A Coronet 5 piece, assorted Ludwig flat base stands and a 1970's Ludwig logo bass drum head.

Drums have a lot of corrosion and Thermogloss finish has issues (except for concert toms), but all in all a great project and some stuff to flip.

Been a while since I got a nice deal on some older American drums. Thinking about re-wrapping in silver sparkle or letting a fellow forum member adopt them...decisions, decisions.

Congrats on the great drum score. I saw a Ludwig b/o kit 22,12,13,16 at the Chicago show last year in maple thermogloss finish just as you described. He wanted 400 for the drums only so I passed on it. I wish I would have bought it now, that finish would be easy and fun to match. This kit you found would make a great Bonham kit, just convert the 14 ct into a regular tom and your off and running. I'm jealous, would love to find that exact set. Could you post a few pics for us please?

Thank you!

VintageDrumBug has 1st crack on the Ludwig kit. He's a HUGE Bonham fan and loves 26" kits. I'll keep my eye out for a 16" locally for ya.

I'm sure for a wood guy like you the finish would be easy. I talked to my buddy at OnTheEdge Drum Services and he said recreating the Thermogloss finish is fairly labor intensive and he said if I paid for wrap, he'd wrap 'em for free. I still don't know exactly what I'm going to do with them as of yet.

Bonus was a NOS slightly used 26 inch Ludwig reso head!!

Nice project for someone, i too like those 26`s. Gary get rid of that electrical outlet about the sink man! Good setup for someone to get hurt, or burn all of your drums up. Tommy

It's a GFI and surge protected. Did it myself and it's mostly a hand sink for washing my hands when in the garage. Thanks for the concern!

Mark, the top painted label is worn, weighs about 1400 grams I believe. I'm guessing a Crash. A little mushrooming on the hole and a nick on the edge, but it's all Classic 2002.....and For Sale!!

Well, your friend is probably much more educated on the actual process that Ludwig did to get that look. I just know I could match the color and make them look really close to original. If your selling them could you pm me a price you would have in mind, I really love them.

Thank you!
