Club Date w/ Acrolite (ya can't go wrong)

Loading...

I brought the 66' Club Date that I bought from Nevin (Surface) and the '65 Acrolite I bought from John (PurdieShuffle) out yesterday for the Christmas festival gig. Thought I would share some drum cam videos that I took using my iPhone 6s. I started making these to critique my playing so that I can make adjustments where I find necessary. The sound quality is decent when listening with headphones.

I made a collage of several tunes and edited the shorter clips together:

I went ahead and uploaded the entire cover we do of "Only So Much Oil on the Ground" by Tower of Power because I just love playing that song!

Thanks for listening! I'll upload a few more tunes this week that we did. It's a fun group.. 9 piece with a horn section!

Nice.. I use my '71 Acrolite for my classic rock/pop/RnB/Funk band and it fits perfectly every time..

Here's a little tip that i use to get that distinct 70's snare sound., I cut off a coated head from its collar to use

as an extra muffle on top of the snare head, just like those "Big Fat Snare" Muffling Heads, and it automatically brings down the pitch and tone, and enhances that "fatness" of the snare drum, with a really cool, dry, close mic

70's recording type snare sound.. ;)

Thanks guys! I'll have to try that head trick, Human71. Sounds like it will get me that "Al Jackson" deep snare sound
