Tend to agree with Hobbs on the price of this one. It's not a steal but just about anything under a grand would be a really good price.

I agree that it may not be s steal but you sure don't see a lot of 1969 club dates out there. This one is in super condition as well.

condition of the drums and the fact that they include the original hardware ad cymbals makes it a no brainer in my opinion. this is an outstanding deal i think. in the 67 catalog, ludwig started marketing their clubdate kit with acrolites anyway. thats all it would take to have a "complete" kit.

Let me kill you some more then... sounds like most agree this may be one of those "too good to pass up" deals. My stated opinions, like I said, are based upon how I look at things. You've got plenty of feedback here... so good luck!

From surface

Excellent price for this kit! Look at the wrap...reaps nothing but CLASS! And brilliant! If I lived close, would be traveling today to take a look... Can always find a pioneer on eBay, and for not a huge amount, and PRESTO...a vintage Ludwig Clubdate with all the fixin's! No brainer in my opinion, as these age of kits are getting harder to find in this condition.Bill...loved the story! Was stamped the day I was born, and I had been looking 34 years. Sold the flaking chromed supra for $240, which paid for my gas, lunch, and oh ...almost forgot, my wife went, and we had to go buy her some shoes...go figure! Thanks for passing on the kit!! He contacted me a yer later, claiming he had found the original heads (he was moving)...was so generous to actually ship them to me, at no charge!Nevin

Nevin,

I'm glad you didn't mind me sharing a little of your story! I really didn't mean to sound so much like I passed on these... as I got the impression he was pretty firm on his price because he knew you were coming and was pretty much holding them! I remember "chatting" with you through email a couple of weeks after you got them -- I was in a motel in Hays, Ks at the time (my father-in-law's funeral), and I remember thinking that I was glad the seller didn't come down on the price for me because you wanted them so bad! That whole scenario made me feel really good!

I don't remember the guy's name. He had a lot of drums, though, and seemed to really be interested in "staves." I've never much gone down that road..

Anyway, again, 'nuff ramblin' on for now.

Not only is the kit cherry, the speed king looks like it just came out of the box!

Yep, have 2 of these kits - one a 3 pc, the other with the matching J-Fest. All nickel hardware. Came with bd cymbal stand, smoking mint bd speed king pedal, HH stand & crap paiste hh's.

If that kit was in my hood I'd have gone over in skivvies even though it's 30-ish. Would have had thoughts warming me the whole walk,

Schwing! Chris
