clear Supra-heads? Last viewed: 12 hours ago

Hi,

Newbie herebaby crawl2

First real questions on this awesome forum!!

I have '71 B/O Supraphonic, wich i found in a small antiqueshop for 130 euro, with supposedly the original heads.

( i really felt like i won the lottery Party)

Now, these heads are both clear and have the 70's Ludwig logo on them in "shiny" ink.

question 1:

Are these heads indeed original?

question 2:

The original snares are bend, is there anyway to fix them?

Thanks

Dennis

1971 Catalog says: "Supplied with Ludwig Weather Master plastic heads and with 18 strand, wire snares".

I'm not sure but I would imagine the drum came with coated batter head.

If you didn't do it already, I would defenitely advice you to replace the old heads with for example Remo Ambassadors and change the snares for new Pure Sounds.

You won't believe what you hear !

thanks Stef,

I replaced the heads with new Ludwig heads

and put a 24 pure sound on = Awesome!! lol

the "original" head is a wheather master, just not a coated one :s

I tend to keep this snare for the rest off my life, would be nice to have it all original!!

Would the heads have been clear if the Supra was supplied in conjunction with a Vistalite kit? I'm asking because I recently acquired a Vista set with a clear headed Supra.

The shiny logo started to appear in the late 60's.I remember buying drum heads in 69 with that type of logo.Also..did the top batter head have db 750 printed on it?Great purchase on that supra..one of the best snares out there.
