Glenn - that drum looks fantastic! I love the stick choppers too!

Im a little confused about the reasoning for the slots in the extension lever. Can someone explain? How do they allow for tension adjustment? Thanks! Feel a bit slow right now :)

James thanks very much.

I think the slots just help compress/squeeze the extension shaft a bit to help hold it in the handle? Although both ends if it measure .250 I'm not sure this is correct. On mine when I twist the shaft in or out it's easier to move up and down. VS just pulling and pushing. So there's no real tension adjustment from the extension itself but may allow one to adjust tension on the handle easier?

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

I think I'm responsible for the confusion here.

By "tension adjustment", I meant expansion/compression within the sleeve as a result of the slight flex allowed by the slots in the lever. I hope that's clear.

Here`s a pic of a repro and an original lever without the slide extention.

This is just my opinion but I refuse to believe that the extention slide doesn`t have another part. I think that the slot on the shaft connected to a wedge nut, kinda like how a bicycle handle bar is slid into the frame and locks into place. to loosen it will turn one way, to tighten it will turn the other way. If you look at the bottom of the original lever on the left, the crimp is such as to not allow it to fall out the bottom should they separate. Just like a bike frame. The repro doesn`t have the same crimp at the bottom.

I don`t think the slot allows for pinch fitting !i
