Here is the Jazz Fest Snare all cleaned up. It is super nice. I have never had one of these. Sounds good too. Also learned a great lesson. If your going to trade or buy and sell drums, either buy it and sell it, or keep it, and never divulge your source, "if at all", until you have finished your business.

Also about that other 14x24 bass drum. I failed to mention the wrap is a completely different color than the ones I got. Much brighter coppery sand looking. Unless the Ludwig Champagne wrap changed in the 70's from what it was in 68 it could be a rewrap ? Also a little update on the 14" floor Tom. I took off all the hardware today to clean it and the extra hole above each leg mount is the original hole. It looks like instead of just getting some longer legs they drilled a whole under the original bottom hole so the mount was even with the lugs and they could raise the Tom higher. Jeeeez DOH Well, the legs cover it and it is closer to the hoop. Unbelievable.

i know pink ludwig champagne and have had different examples of the wrap, the best years i think are 67 to 69 the color is so vibrant ( if you can get a well preserved example) after the lugs are off that will tell the tale, 70 /71 there was a change in ludwig wraps not so color full so you mite have faded wraps on some and maybe the bd was well preserved with out a in person look to see , u cant tell by pics, that's 1 of the only wraps you can't really capture with a lens ...still one of the best looking colors even faded

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

I agree. I got the nice wrap. You can barely even tell there is any fade when you remove the lugs. Some Meguires plastX and may not can tell at all but it's not even noticeable really. And your correct. Pics don't do them justice. Been cleaning and polishing since Monday morning. Will have some pics soon. That other bass drum was a 70's BO badge. Mine are 1968 Keystone.

I knew that was the story as soon as you said "extra holes above each leg" It happens all the time with 14" floors. That's what people do when they can't be bothered paying for long legs. It's a drag. Cosmetically a good shop can make it hard to see. Nice drums!

That Jazzfest looks brand new. Great job!

Are you going to move the 14x14 floor tom leg mounts back to the original locations? Are you going to repair the extra bottom holes? If the legs help hide the holes, then I'd say leave it. Just think of them as 3 extra vent hole. ;)

Yes, definitely moving the leg mounts to the original holes. It.s going to be very hard to notice with the legs. Just going to leave it alone. You will never notice from the stage. Aside from that the other drums are as in good shape as the snare. I have to install hardware on the 14" and clean the hoops for all. That's my least fav part. Cleaning metal hoops. One of the hoops on the 14 was COB. Going to use that on the batter side. Going to try and have the toms finished by this afternoon. Had to order a 18" Ambassador batter head. Want to play them on a gig the 26th of this month.

Yes, I know I was really lucky. All I have left to do is paint the bass hoops,"in the morning", wipe off the bass drum hardware from it's bath, and install the lugs and spur mounts, and 18 batter head when it get,s here. Have a clear ambassador on top now to goof around. Everything else is done. Put Ambassadors all around on the other toms and snare. I did have to use my longer floor Tom legs for the 14" after I put the mounts back on correctly.

Does anyone find it odd that this set has a 14"& 18" floor toms instead of 14" & 16" or 16" & 18" ? Especially with a 24" kick drum. I have them set up with another Bass drum to tune a little and mess around on them and it actually works, and sounds pretty darn good.
