Don't know that its worth it but it is beautiful. I guess from this era if it were brass it would be black beauty?

What makes it valuable as an instrument is; that's a solid wood shell under there. In its current condition, considering non-original parts, it isn't worth more than $600. That's half of what he's asking for it. It would probably sell for less.
