That's 'Top Secret' one of the best modern drum & bugle corps. out there! What always amazes me is not just the drumming, but the fact that those guys can execute complicated dance movements while they're playing incredible riffs on the drums.

My all-time favorite drum corp. was the Minisink Warriors out of New York City. It was an all-black drum corp, based in Harlem. (Actually, Sugar Hill on 145th Street.) I made friends with two of the snare drummers after a gig I played back in 66'. I learned more from those cats just swapping licks than I could have learned with the best 'formal teachers' in the world. Great drummers.

Check out this old video. Not the best quality, but you'll get the idea. The way these guys would pass a furious single-stroke roll/riff from drummer to drummer still blows my mind to this day. These cats weren't just 'drummers' they were artists in their own right. Check the rhythms... it all swings real hard! Unbelievable what you can do with basic rudiments. Enjoy.

For those of you who are not familiar with DCI (Drum Corps International) you should take an hour out and look over the broad spectrum of YouTube offerings including performances as well as line warm-ups. Pretty unbelievable stuff and it is rudimental drumming to it's furthest extents.

You just beat me by an hour. If you have never been to a DCI - World Class event, you are missing an amazing group of musicians. I went to the DCI openers in Akron, Ohio both last year and this year.

If the hair doesn't stand up on your arms at least once during one of these shows, then you need to check for a pulse. ;)

Tim - Damn amazing stuff! Those cats are playing modern jazz out there! They sound more like a quality symphony orchestra than a drum & bugle corp.! Great sound... very challenging material to play. I have nothing but deep respect for them and their incredible musicianship.

First class all the way!

John
