Champion snare

Loading...

I currently own a Champion snare from Japan. I would like to know if anyone knows what type of wood was used to make this drum? Thanks!

The MIJ specialists will be along shortly to add more...Luan is normally a vertically grain plywood...I see that this snare doesn`t have this typical grain pattern...The badge looks like a 60`s Star (Early Tama)...Shell would be 3 ply...

Cheers

Looks like birch to me. The patch or whatever's going on with that piece on the left is luan.

The patch on the left is a piece of wood I'm pretty sure to reinforce the butt end. There is also one behind the throw-off.
