Caroline Pedal Last viewed: 8 hours ago

I just acquired a Caroline Pedal from a forum member and would like to get as close to possible the original type strap. I have seen some pictures where the strap looks like a canvas and others where it is a greenish blue(on one side) strap. Where do you guys get your replacement straps. Any help would be greatly appreciated....I finally pulled the trigger to see what all the fuss about this Caroline is.

Also, am I mistaken but was the Caroline pictured in a Ludwig poster back in the day with a Ghost Pedal and the Speed King? Did Ludwig sell these at any time?

great picture Mike...that reminds me. I don't think my pedal has that flap of fabric under the heel plate...and the felt beater isn't that long. Finding the correct type strap is the first on my list though.

The heel plate link can pull through , where it is screwed to the footboard, over time. The material I have seen used for that, is a type of canvas oilcloth fabric, very tough and about an 1/8" thick-----similar material to heavy duty straps and the like used on trucks, ships etc. Usually , fitting with larger washers , can get it back into service for many years. It's a canvas, impregnated with some sort of resin anyway. The strap is a similar material, although I have also seen heavy full grain leather. I would think leather would do for either. It's easy to acquire. The leather, on the Caroline I currently have here, is the heaviest I have ever seen on any pedal---it's just shy of 1/4"..
