Camco snare strainer

Loading...

I need a strainer for a 14" snare. I tried to rig a 15" strainer as shown in the attached picture, but it won't work. Suggestions please.

You should be using 13" or 14" snares on a 14" drum. Is it a Camco? What era?

Don' know which strainer you're talking about unless you post photo or better description. There are some bona-fide Camco experts lurking around. Give them something to work with.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Here's picture. A 14 inch wire set will not reach the attachment screws.

For that version of the 99 Super you can use a Puresound WFL model. They have two, the one you need is the shorter of the two.

for that to fit it would need to be the same size as what I'm showing in the picture, and that does not work.

It's the closest thing on the market. It will work but you will need to drill your own holes in the end tabs. I did this before on a 99 Super I once owned.

If you had the early version of the 99 Super I would've suggested the longer WFL set as you can see in the pic below.

I thought I might have pics of when I modified it but the only ones I have are when I first got it. I remember using the short version of the WFL wires but looking at it now, maybe the longer ones might be better. If you could measure the distance center to center from one screw to the other screw I can help you decide which one will work best.

From edge (screw) to edge it's 15 3/8.

From joe.cohen

From edge (screw) to edge it's 15 3/8.

Go with the Fibes Puresound wires. That will give you 1/4" on each tab to work with as the Fibes measures at 15 7/8" of total length.

Or if you want a single centered hole in the tabs to work with, go with the Slingerland Clamshell as it's also 15 7/8" long.
