Camco Oaklawn Snare

Seasons greetings all! I just have a quickie... What do think the going ballpark rate would be for a pretty tidy 14 x 5 Camco Oakland snare?

Cheers in advance!

Do you know how to do an eBAY completed auctions search?

Never play it the same way once.

To quote my good friend Purdie "P-H-O-T-O-S, this isnt the phsycic hotline". Pics would help greatly.

Yes, pics would help. If it's an Aristocrat it will have round lugs and command a decent price. If it has Tuxedo lugs, it will be worth little less. Same shells, so it's a nice drum either way if it's in good shape and has all the original parts.

Good luck.

Sorry if you all get fed up with these kind of questions... I do check ebay etc., but the market seems pretty unstable at the moment, so I was kind of after some input from the experts.

Anyhow, the snare in question has been lurking for a little while. I wondered when I should pounce! He has a video for your consideration:

Thanks again for your time.

You have to mention the badge issue and that`s gonna kill value !!

Looking quickly at the video, not everything was as crystal clear as it might've been. Looks like badge has been removed which would strongly suggest a re-wrap (though you'd know that more than I would).

Also looked like there was either some serious grime or otherwise some solid pitting on the lugs - I thought the rims looked like the brass cast ones but at the same time it looked like there was pitting on those which is almost a contradiction. Again, might've been grime but difficult to tell from the fleeting images.

Looks like an older George Way strainer which may or may not be appropriate for the drum.

If none of the things I've mentioned above are true then you might be good for USD600 if the wind is with you - if all of those things are as I've surmised possibly as low as half that, dependent on who is around to be bidding.

Actual pix would be useful, particularly of all the things I've alluded to above.

Many thanks for your responses. To be perfectly honest I am just watching it on ebay, looking for a bargain. I have no real need for another snare - my Slingly and Carlton King serve me perfectly well. Sounds like there are some issues (esp. with thebadge) and that I should swerve it.

Sorry if I have irritated anyone with the OP.
