I am not really Familiar with Camco... This kit is up for sale in Sydney,

Sizes seem to be rare, certainly down here anyhow .. 18x24, 16x18, and 10x14.

Any thoughts from the Camco Crew??

Cheers

longjohn - Sell the car, or the kids, or whatever you have to do, but grab those drums! You won't lose a penny of your investment on a resale, I promise. The kit is crying out for a matching 13" and 16" to complete it. The 'missing drum sizes' do come up for sale from time to time on fleabay. Not impossible to complete the kit, in not too long a time.

You'll have the only one in Oz like it!

Best drums in the world by any standard of measure!!!!!

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Steele's selling it for me on consignment - he's got so much specific local Oz vintage drum traffic to his Facebook page it's silly not to take advantage of that.

I bought the kit from a guy in Los Angeles around 2004/5, shipped it back to Sweden where I lived at the time then bought it with me to Oz in late 2008. I love it to death and it's killing me to part with it but I now live in a (not particularly huge) flat and I've really only got space for one kit (also a Camco) and a few snares.

The rarest element on a very rare kit is that bass drum - in all my time talking with other Camco nuts I've heard of one other and that's owned by UK session-man Chris Whitten - it's an 8" and 10" shell held together by a glue ring - brilliant.

This kit is both beauty and beast. The finish is that really lovely honey maple that you only get with nearly 40 years of maturing.

And it's so solid and that bass drum so punchy you immediately feel empowered in any musical setting - though once or twice I questioned if I was actually man enough to play it.

Since 2005 I've separately picked up an 16" oval badge floor (and if it's not immediately apparent, the oval badges were only made for around three years so they're rare as hen's teeth - I've not seen another close to matching floor tom since I bought this one).

Sleishman's lacquer guy Humphrey refinished it to perfectly match this (famed LA customizer Pat Foley had put a sunburst on it) and there's also an oval badge Super 99 (like Ludwig Super Sensitives) 5" deep snare in maple finish which has also been refinished.

And, if you're a real completist there's also some period appropriate Camco stands and pedals I've got. Any questions let me know but the sales process goes via Steele.

Thanks for chiming in.. that takes care of the history thing.. I'll p/m you with some questions... sorry for you that the kit is on the market.. I think I'd be donating my left "you know what" to hang on to it.. Great looking kit indeed but the 1 up 2 down option set up would be insane...

Small world on this forum I'm thinking...

Cheers

Vintage drum world is tiny....particularly in Oz. Still trying to get enough people together for a drink. Met a couple of DFO bods from Melbourne last time I was down there.
