This was Camco's version of a cross between the Ludwig Super Sensitive and the Rogers Dyna-Sonic. Years ago I had purchased a 99 Super wood Aristocrat model (round lugs). I never liked the sound of it plus it had been refinished in walnut so I ended up selling it. After the fact I started to learn how rare that drum really was as it was the only one I had ever heard of.
Well recently a forum member asked me many questions about a Camco kit he was looking at which he thought was purple moire. When I saw the pics it turned out to be faded blue moire but what I couldn't believe is that there in the pics I was looking at a wood Camco Oaklawn 701 Super ( same as the 99 Super but was the first version using the Tuxedo strainer). Then Joe Luoma picked up a red sparkle Camco Oaklawn with a 99 Super wood Aristocrat. Then last week David (Antipodes) picked up an oval badge Camco Oaklawn 99 Super wood Aristocrat but was missing the original strainer mechanism and has a few extra holes.
And now this, a complete Camco Oaklawn kit in champagne sparkle including a 99 Super wood Aristocrat! These drums are suppose to be rare as hell yet 4 just popped up in as little as 2 months! http://cgi.ebay.com/CAMCO-OAKLAWN-KIT-/300549708456?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45fa289aa8
As a Camco collector I put these drums up there with the Rogers wood Dyna-Sonics as far as being rare and highly collectible. Most 99 Supers are COB with Tuxedo lugs which is a fairly common drum.
