Calling All Slingerland Experts.

I just picked up a Slingerland Chrome Krupa snare drum and I'm trying to date it.

It's a brass and black badge with numbers so I know it's between 1963-1969.

I also know that they didn't start making the drum I have until 1965...so...it's between 1965 and 1969.

It has a Zoomatic strainer but not the one with the compression bar, it has two holes to tie the snare cords onto (see pic).

Any idea what year they began the compression bar? Did they use the two hole string strainer for all of '65-'69?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Here's the link to the article on the Zoomatic.. Not sure if this helps with the actual year of change...

The "Idiot Tab" was introduced in 1966, so maybe this helps?

Cheers

Looks as if the two hole narrow cord clamp was 1962 - 1965 and since my drum was introduced in 1965, I can say with pretty good confidence that this snare is 1965.

That's great info LJ, thanks!!!

Slingerland introduced the "New Zoomatic" in 1967, with their catalog #68. The "New Zoomatic" made use of the compression bar and "normal" snare wires, attached at both ends with filament tape straps.
