Buying vintage IS "greener"

Manufacturing processes involve a lot of pollution -air pollution and water pollution. God only knows what the environmental laws are like in Taiwan (where most basic raw materials for new drums are fabricated). And, just like with the BP oil spill in the Gulf, pollution drifts.

Of course, manufacturing new drums can't compare to the pollution it takes to build a hybrid vehicle....and then when that hybrid vehicle has to be scrapped one day down the road, it will create even more pollution -certainly more than it alleviated by its design....But I digress...

Anyway, this is just to put the spotlight on yet another great thing about collecting vintage drums. Yes, even the vintage drums created their own pollution when they were made back in the day, too. But as long as we keep utilizing them throughout the ages, the "greener" they will be. Do you see the logic of it?

...so maybe I use some water based, non-toxic stuff to refinish them when restoring/re-creating?

Not a problem for me as I could care less about complete originality of my re-creations. Aftr all, you guys would rather use my beloveds to warm your living room for 2 minutes...sniff..sniff...and that causes pollution! So don't burn those MIJ drums, send me your poor, your tired, your worn out MIJ drums, and I can ...pile them up in the back room...wait a minute...let's just be more modertate about all we do.

I agree whole-heartedly with you!

Reduce-reuse-recycle old drums of every caliber!
