From Mike T

I am sorry I just do not believe in polishing or making old drums pretty so just send the worthless steel drums to me I will keep them and save you all this hassle...... ExcitedExcited Excited I want to see them...... please....

I have all the hardware taken off so they are just the shells, but I'll snap some shots of the project

Bob - There is not going to be any way to save the original grommets, they will have to be replaced. I would use a rat-tail file to cut off the flange (the lip that is formed when the grommet is installed,) of the grommet on the inside of the drum. If you're careful, there will be no scratches or blemishes.

B/O badges come with an adhesive on the back! Once you reinstall the badges and grommets, the badges will stick to the shell and no edges will be lose or lifted.

It's do-able and if it's done right, will not harm the value of the drums at all. I'd go for it and buy another 25 years of life for the shells.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Bob, there will be no adhesive on the back of your of your blue olive badges, It has since eroded away due to time and the elements especially on a stainless steel surface..

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!
