If this has been posted previously just ignore it. I recently bought a guitar through the Reverb site and now I get constant ads popping up.https://reverb.com/item/782334-buddy-rich-s-fibes-1966-custom-chrome-over-fiberglass-drumset-signed-authenticated?_aid=criteo-ads
Buddy's COF Fibes kit on Reverb for 30K Last viewed: 1 day ago
That is some serious $$. Imagine the comparison to the sale of Ringo drums though, and Ringo is still alive. The music industry is a strange business.
Mick/Dan!
Yes indeed!... this BR Fibes set has come up many times for discussion here and there, and I have written a bunch about it too! I dug out the last thread where this was discussed, and I'll pop in the link if any want to read it. I will say that the drums Donn Bennett has are indeed the REAL DEAL ... they are/were BR's!, but ... in my opinion, with no offense meant to anyone, priced way too high. Plus, they are not complete. Two of the toms are replacements. Proper era/build mind you, but still replacements. So... for that amount of jing ... not even close to worth it. Add the fact that Buddy has been gone 28 years now .. ( in April ) .. and it would be near impossible to get that amount of money. I have always maintained that within a 5 year time frame of his passing, one could ask these types of prices, and probably get it! Today, not so much. Anyway... here's the link: http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=51775

Thanks for the link Tommy! Like Paul Harvey used to say, "that's the rest of the story". I did a "Fibes" search before posting but after not seeing this kit mentioned in the first 3 pages decided to throw it out there.
After reading the sellers description and the linked thread, I still can't tell if the replacement rack and floor tom were with the kit when Buddy played it or if they were lost after his passing and subsequently replaced to complete it.

Donn has never really mentioned where/how those two toms went missing. I suspect he bought the drums with them missing and added the replacements to the rest of the set. So... my guess is they were gone after Buddy passed. BR "lost" a lot of stuff out of his storage facility after he passed... and no one seems to know exactly where some of it went!

For $30k I would want it to be complete. For as many bad things I hear about his temper I can't imagine any nicer gesture than just giving away a kit to someone! I heard he did this quite a few times.
