From Tommyp

drumhack!...Truth be told, Buddy had nothing to do at all with the design and/or development of this item... he just liked 'em! Zildjian developed these, and of course sold them back in the day. I will say that in the 70's, ALL of us used these too. They are indeed a cool little device. What I found out though, after multiple set-ups/breakdowns in the "gig zone", is that the little pin that holds the swivel eventually falls out, probably due to vibration. So in go another set... and so on. Eventually everybody.. ( for the most part ) .. got tired of constantly replacing these, and returned to threaded wingnuts. Buddy though... he must have had a GROSS of these in stock, as they were omnipresent on his set! LOL!!!Tommyp

Hey everyone,

Tommy's 100% on this, ( as always all things Buddy ), I can remember talking to the Zildjian people, I think both Armand and Lenny DeMuzio both at a Buddy gig and at the factory about these.

I used to be in the manufacturing business and was fortunate enough to get a tour and offered the Zildjian folks to be a local source for such things as the snaps and other metal items that they made.

At this time, the middle 80's or so, I think the snaps were not destined for much more of a life span and eventually ceased production not too long after that I think.

It's kind of crazy what they go for and I am in the market to get 3 for my 1972' WMP 80N set.

Good memories though, thanks.
