Buck Rogers snare stands

Loading...

This is a stand I really don't know much about other than Ringo using it to replace the flat base stand he started with. Was it just a Ludwig heavy duty stand before it was called the Atlas line and was just given the Buck Rogers nickname or did Rogers make it originally giving it that Buck Rogers name.

Any info would be appreciated......thanks

Thanks for that info so Ringo had a Ludwig version I assume, but was really not sure who originally made it or came up with the name.

I think W & A made them for the various companies. There were variations of them for the different brands but the basic stand was the same.

The story on the name is that when the stand was folded up it reminded someone of a "ray gun" like Buck Rogers would use and that was the name that W & A went with. A story that is just weird enough to be true (who would make that up?). They do sorta-kinda look like a futuristic gun when folded up...and I'm unaware of any famous drummers from that era named "Buck Rogers" which would be about the only other plausible explanation.
