A guy in Suffolk NY has an add on Craiglist for Dynasonic with brass shell. He's wondering what it might be. I recommended he check in here, and with Ploughman in particular. Maybe someone else will have an idea. Price is up there.
Would someone have spent the $$ to have it dipped and stripped?
Dan,i`ve never seen one of these dynas before and as it said in the CL add"it could be a Joe Thompson prototype" which would justify the cost.A very early serial # too but if Ploughman will weigh in here i`m sure you`ll find find out if it`s a strip and dip job or the real deal.I`m curious about this as well.

Hard to fake something like that. If ten more show up with numbers all over the place, you could probably figure that is what happened. But I do not have enough experience with drums of this era and all of the nuances of changes in construction to say much more than it looks like a real deal drum. I have looked at his CL pics. The stuff on the drum are all correct for that number as far as I know.
I spoke with a guy last night that had a TO DIE FOR below 2000 serial number COB.......... yes . C O B. 6.5 .... and it sold for 1700.00. Now who would believe that?

I believe all Powertones are COB.
Are all metal Dynas COB also?
