Blue Oyster Pearl Ludwigs cleaned up. Last viewed: 2 days ago

Thank you everyone for your nice comments on my “Lucky Day “ drums. I hope I am not breaking any rules by starting another thread, I just thought it was a good way to let you guys know they are done.

As you can see I have them all polished up (except for the snare) and looking good. They came out just amazing, that Novus 2 product is wonderful stuff, the pictures just don’t show how beautifully they shine. It was a pretty easy task. I basically stripped the hardware, soaked it in Krud Kutter over night then rinsed it off, towel dried then polished with Blue Magic. As mentioned, polished the shells with Novus 2, then novus 1. Scraped and sanded the old paint off the bd hoops then painted with rust-olium satin black.

I said in my other thread there were no missing parts, I lied. There are no legs (spurs) for the base drum and no bracket to mount the tom, and no tom mount. So that’s why the tom is on a stand. I will try the tom using a stand for a while but eventually I would like to get the parts to mount the tom like it was intended to be. Well, I have to get to tuning these up and start playing. Btw, for the first time I wanted to lube the bearing edges, which were in great condition, so I used some Johnson’s paste wax on the edges. Will that do any good?

The Johnson's paste wax is the best thing you could have done for the edges! They came out great. Keep on Pl

Well I have heard guys using bees wax and candles. I keep the paste wax around to keep my cast iron machine surfaces nice and slippery, so I thought it should work on the edges.

I think the paste wax is fine for the edges but it just don`t harden up. To fill the pits, I use a harder wax and a candle works very well to pack it in !!

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Ya I saw you recomended that to someone just the other day. It makes good sense. My edges were pretty smooth, not hardly any pits and the paste wax was right there so I grabbed it. But I will keep that trick in mind when I get my Slingy shells together. Thanks.

I get mine at K&K True Value Hardware. About 5.00 each. I know you can buy it over the internet but its expensive. Ive seen it as much as 20.00. So check local places first. If you call Novus they will locate a store for you, thats what I did.
