blaemire?

That Makes sense, I bought a kit that has the feel of a vintage kit but more like "I'll just build one". The shells other than this one are mahogany with reinforcement rings and all of the hardware is either Slingerland or Ludwig. It has that cool vintage looking wrap. The sizes seemed a little odd, the bass drum is 20x18, the first tom 9x13 and floor 16x16. So these could have any kind of hardware because they were DIY.

Thank you

for the info

Yes. Ludwig hardware was common and easily available and that seems to be what we see the most of on old Blaemire builds, but it could be anything.

Here's my kit, picked it up a couple of years ago. Jerry made a raw green glass snare for me to complete the kit. I can't look at, or play those drums without thinking about Jerry.

My 72' Blaemires w/Ludwig hardware.

From Dingus

Hi, New here.I have a A.F. Blaemire and would like to get some information on it.It is 14x10 and looks to have slingerland lugs with a vintage looking swirl wrap. Any info would be much appreciated.

Is this the only Blaemire shell you have? We've posted quite a bit on this forum, so if you do a search, there's a lot of info. You can also check out the J-M website, the link is in my signature. There's history about Allen and the original Blaemires on the site. Feel free to PM me also.

Hi and thanks for all the info, There's so much to take in.

I only have the one drum that came with a vintage style kit.

It does have a unique finish that I believe is older and I can't find it at any of the wrap companies.

I have played cover tunes forever and we all have tried to get the Hal Blaine sound at one time or another. The history is just fantastic.

Hey Dingus! (teehee)

I need to get your shipping address, please advise.

BTW, his Blaemire tom had what looks for all the world like the Copper Strata wrap from a Ludwig Standard. Just a thin ply of MIJ celluloid. It seems pretty likely to have been peeled from the same 60s MIJ drum that donated its parts.

Am now thinking Ludwig bought MIJ wrap for the Standard line. Dead ringer.

I got the wrap off in one neat piece and he's going to use it to make a snare.

Which is nice... :)

Me? I'm going to add the Blaemire shell to this fledgling Starship.

Very cool Will! The drum seems to have found a good home, love it!

Ok.....LMGTS

"Floyd, did you get Dingus's shell?"

That sounds funny.

That's what Andy Taylor asked his barber.

So did Dingus part with his swirl covered shell?

still sounds funny.

good times
