Blaemire kit on eBay - $20K - Really?!! Last viewed: 20 seconds ago

Here it is...

OK, I really wish we could get this issue cleared up to allow including hyperlinks to ebay! Grrrrr!

Ebay item 261690516695

Yes, I know we all have a soft spot for Blaemire drums. I had a few in the early 70's and really liked them. But, is this kit really that collectible to be offered for $20K? Post your thoughts!

I would GLADLY pay all the money, but it would need to have at least 10 more Swivo mounts on the bass drum. Festooned with "Quadrophenia" Vespa rear view mirrors. How much is a brand new Martin/Jenkins set? I think I'm not a good judge, as I have no particular obsession with any specific brand. Burger Kin

Jerry Jenkins knows this kit. I think he restored it. It was never Alan's personal kit. It was made for one of Alan's customers who put all the bling on it. He needed mounts.

This seller is delusional. I helped Jerry restore this kit for the 2009 Hollywood Drum Show. It was originally wrapped in silver sparkle. This is a pic of me sitting behind it right after we finished it.

I'm thinking not. It would tend to indicate there is a leap in value from your blue sparkle Headliner manufactured by Rogers to this kit in the order of $18k. That means you could buy Manny's Gretsch with the 18" bass and have some dough left over for a red onyx Citadel catalog kit from '67/68 plus a matching red onyx Dynasonic.

Pass.

Repost of my thread about this seller...

First off I dont really need to warn anybody about buying from this seller because he is just so far off the mark with his pricing. But this fellow is not truthful in his auctions.

I am bringing this up because I know the history of this kit and I am the person who restored it. Allen Blaemire never owned this kit, he never even saw it with the hardware on it. When I first bought the kit I spoke to the owner who had bought the shells in the 70's and the Rogers hardware at the same time. He told be how he had build the kit and used it for all these years for teaching and recording.

This same eBay seller had a Rodgers snare up for auction not long ago that he also said belonged to Allen as his personal snare.

I know where he got it and who sold it to him. He is just not truthful.

At the end of this auction text he goes on to say that "martin jenkins is making this shells now and get over 5000 for a new one with no history or class".

Well....our history is Allen Blaemire! I knew him...I leaned from him...and I think we have captured these essence of the sound and beauty of these drums.

He makes out like he is connected to us but doesn't even know the name of the company!!

This fellow emailed me few months back and wanted me to put a price on this Rogers/Blaemire kit. He this proceeded to tell me that I better come back with a good price since he knew how much the J-M kits are getting and that his kit should be worth more. I told him that I thought $1200 was the most he would get out of them. In the same post he asked me what the cost of a set of fiberglass hoops would be for this kit. I told him that we do not sell the hoops separate. (Because of the way we set up and wind our shells, the hoops are wound at the same time and on the same mandrel as the bass they are going on. The cost in time and expense is almost the same as building another full drum. It did not make since to sell them separate from the bass drum).

I dont think he liked either of my answers.

Like I said...not worried that anyone would go for this kit....just needed to vent a bit.

Your "venting" is warranted and appreciated! I just don't understand why so many sellers seem to think they are sitting on a gold mine with what they perceive to be "rare", "one-of-a-kind", etc, etc. It's crazy!

He just dropped the BIN price to $3200 . Sounds like the chatter and facts struck a nerve .

Warning ... Avoid member statuscymbal here, vintage_collector on DFO , and americanpatriot10 on eBay. Email me for his name. All are the same shady guy who has burned me and a list of other members on both boards . He is also selling on Facebook too ..
