Are my old, tired eyes deceiving me, or is Bill Stewart playing on a 16" bass drum in this video?
Bill Stewart playing a 16" BD? Last viewed: 2 hours ago
Looks like a 16" from here! Wish the drums were clearer, excellent playing. That level of proficiency in jazz drumming is just way above my pay grade. Great skills on that guy!

Thanks for chiming in, Purdie Shuffle! By the way, I just found this online and thought it was pretty cool:

Bill Stewart, my favorite contemporary Jazz Drummer. His Signature Sticks are great for light Jazz Playing.
That Bass Drum looks more like a 18" to me.
Thanks for Sharing!
Happy new Year,

Happy New Year, everyone!
Anyway, I'm asking because, in comparison to my Gretsch kit with an 18" bass drum, Bill Stewart's kick looks much smaller in the video...

...and here's a photo of Brian Blade and his 16" bass drum:

Comparing it to the floor tom, I'd have to call it an 18"....
And, I second the stick recommendation. His model's been my favorite for a while now. Really nice feel and rebound.....
It was surely an 18" bass, but the reason it appears to be smaller than yours is the relationship of one piece to the other. Notice how close your mounted tom is to your bass and how comparitively elevated his is.

Exactly. also the white Front Head compared to Stewart's transparent Head makes a Difference.
@Drummer 808: Stunning Beautiful Gretsch Kit!
Kind Regards,
Lars
