Bill Nolte Drum Set

Loading...

Some of you Rogers fans may have noticed the eBay sale of a set of drums belonging to the drummer for Bill Haley and His Comets, Bill Nolte.

It's reported to be the first of two red onyx sets that Nolte had during his ten or so years with Haley and one that suffered severe wrap cracks of the sort that send chills up the spine for those of us who've experienced it with their own drums.

The second set seen in the video below is reported to be in the Hard Rock Cafe in Louisville, KY.

This video shows Nolte in action with the Comets. He displays rock ('n roll) solid timing, and the drums, especially the Powertone snare, come through loud and clear. Hope you enjoy it.

Wow. Fantastic. It is indeed that Powertone sound. What a nice relaxed feel - tempo just locked in to all the tunes, even in a medley. Loved it!! Thanks for posting that Dan.

Dan,thanks for posting the Haley clip-really enjoyed the perfect groove drumming, man that guy could shuffle/swing with the best of em`.Great sounding kit of course and that snare pops!

Glenn,i was watching this on ebay-a great piece of instrument history with this set.Looks like alot of work was done patching the wrap as opposed to a re-wrap,a wise decision... but not so sure of the work quality.I am surprised that at 2K bin offer-it hasn`t moved.
