Glad to see you're back at these! Are you plugging the holes and planning on re-drilling them later once the drum is wrapped? Or will they just be covered with the new wrap and forgotten?I'm also curious about the donor shell you use. Have you used it to patch something as big as a center tom mount? I figure if you use a patch that big it needs to be the same diameter shell so it follows the contour of the drum it's being moved to. Is that something you've run into at any point?

I am just plugging the rail mount holes and a couple extra holes from what looks like a bass drum muffler. I have not done a center mount hole before but I'm going to give it a shot at some point soon.

Your point about the size of the shell is a good thought. My donor is a bass drum.

Gotcha.

Do you know the temperature your heat gun runs at? Also, do did you use a stiff or flexible putty knife when removing the cortex?

This one got put on the shelf. Life has just got in the way of trying to finish this. It will happen though and I will be back to report. Hope all are well!

Hey Curtis, thought of this project of yours and wondered if you were able to start it back up. Really hope to see it one day!
