Been meaning to ask about this one (Gretsch). Last viewed: 1 day ago

I bought this snare about two years ago and knew about the little extra hole above the strainer. What I don't know is what strainer was on this snare originally; I'm not familiar with the various hole patterns for the different Gretsch strainers. As you can see, the washers for the current strainer are smaller than what was originally installed. There is also a compression circle around the vacant hole. Any help is appreciated.

Check out this link: http://www.gretschdrums.com/?fa=catarchives2

Check out the 1971 catalog, page 12/13. The strainer that was fitted originally to your drum most likely was the later Renown style strainer.

Thank you for the wake up call. (Not sure why I didn't think of looking there.)

Also saw that "Standard Throw" on their Dixieland snare. Confirmation I did pay too much for this snare, but barely anything for the new one. Evens out.

Much obliged.
