Bass drum cymbal mounts.

Hey everyone,

I've got a 26" bass drum. Recently I bought a Ludwig ATLAS mount to replace with one of the classic lugs. I wan't to set my splash on a bass drum cymbal arm (like Buddy Rich, ...), with the bass drum cymbal arm attached on the Ludwig ATLAS mount. So I don't have to drill any extra holes in my bass drum.

The Ludwig ATLAS mount has a 12.7mm (1/2") clamp.

The vintage Ludwig BD cymbal L-arm (9.5mm) doesn't fit the new ATLAS mount, so I began seeking by other brands.

After a while I found two versions of bass drum cymbal mounts from

Drum Workshop (DW SM770 & DW SM770S): short and long.

Does anyone know the heights of both bass drum mounted cymbal arms when fully extended and when on the lowest point.

you could buy the L arm made by Gibralter that has a 12.7mm & 9.5 mm rod

that should solve the problem

the DW arm is A) expensive and B) the arm is quite beefy----

drummaker .com has some inexpensive arms with smaller rods.

Not sure of the height of the DW arms but you could also look into a hoop mount L-arm for your splash, it would fit the vintage arm. I've had a lot of success with mine. http://drumsonsale.com/product.php?id_product=1101

(there are probably cheaper ones around too)

Hope that helps.

I use one of the hoop mounted ones that Buddyludwig showed a picture of all the time. It works great. You need to tighten the hoop mount securely to the hoop BEFORE you insert the L-arm. Once you do that it does not move even when you really hammer on the cymbal. Been using it on gig acouple times a month for about 2 years now. i was able to eliminate carrying a cymbal stand around.

I has just got an atlas mount and inside the package are 2 sleeves that fit inside the mount so it will take the 9.5 and 10.5 rods
