I read a Buddy Rich interview where he said tap dancing helped him with his sense of time and rhythm. I wonder how long it took Fred to come up with that routine.

Wonder what those heads are made of---I cringed every time he kicked one. And they must have been welded to the floor---not a shake, let alone a budge. He had clean chops---notice his turned-over left hand position (I think), like holding a pen? Cool Drums and those small cymbals!

My old drum teacher told me in the old days of Hollywood, all the great drummers were tap dancers, and vice versa. I believe it, especially after watching that. He's got great technique.
That was good !! Prolly where kick drum came from !!
