Reference books aren't perfect, but , The Rogers book has the Classmate 4X13" listed as finished in either Black or white lacquer, & w/ a very simple tensioner that merely tightens the snares(1954-62). However, the "Banner " snare(5X14") has pearl finishes & the very strainer that appears on your snare (c.1962).
tdernnis thanks mate and very helpful information..it has a sticker inside saying Classmate Model number 4861 and has a black interior mate if that helps at all...thanks again
Your throw off appears to be a type used beginning in 1960, so I'm guessing that around this time (c.1962) , Rogers started putting pearl finishes, & the "Universal Throw off Strainer" on their Classmates.
