Antique Ludwig Drum Set (circa 1904)

Loading...

I have an antique drum set that I was hoping someone was able to answer a few questions about for me.

It's three pieces. Branding on the drum says "Ludwig Chicago" it's a branding in the wood not like metal plate with the brand name on it. They are all from the same era (1895-1911ish)but two are the same color and the third is a different color. Color of drums is multi stained woods. They are not in perfect condition and the drum "canvas/head" (unsure of terminology here :) is ripped on 2 of them. It would have to be replaced. There is also a padded base stick and a regular drum stick as well as a wooden cow bell type of thing that I got with them. The one drum is signed by a Frank Bowers on May 18, 1904.

If anyone knows anything about the drum set from this time period or could give me any information on "Frank Bowers" that would be great. Also trying to figure out the value of these drums. Spent quite some time on the internet researching and have not come across these drums for sale anywhere. Although I have seen some similar pictures of them in old ludwig catalogs dating back from 1900. Any info (little or a lot) would be great!

Thanks in advance!

If they're Ludwig, the company started in 1909.
