Another what's it worth? post

Loading...

I recently picked up a kit I have no use or room for. It is a fixer upper. The set is called a Slingerland Jupiter # 90n. A nine piece kit. Six concert rack toms and an 18" floor tom. Mine has a second BD. Late 70s. 5 ply maple poplar. Maple finish in and out. The finish has lots of scratches and scrapes. Everything seems to be present and original. Cases for all but the 9x13 and snare. Snare is Asian crap, but I have a 70s Slingy COB that could go with it.

So, after I have cleaned and polished and reheaded and set them up to play, how much do you guys think a kit like this would be worth? Ballpark?

Here is one that is pretty much the same except mine has 2 BDs and the finish is scarred maple.

Just for general info I'm not thinking that mine would bring $1400, or even come close.

I just fixed it. Surprisingly, I get PM's from more people than someone that I shell out money to or Mcjnic....... I am a regular social butterfly in this place lately.....Falling Do

I was wondering if it would be considered poor decorum to bump someone else's post in the hopes that some members will give an honest, ballpark price so that a deal can possibly be struck for the topic of the thread?

If it is in poor taste to do so, please let me know so that I will not commit this faux pas!

If the finish is seriously banged up Maple ... with concert toms ... I'm thinking not a great deal of money. The key to those natural wood finish Slingy kits was ... the natural wood finish. Sorry.

That's a shame. Those wood finish Slingy kits are my faves. BIG TIME LOVE. oh well.

The finish is not beyond recovery. However, it would take stripping or sanding the old finish and smoothing the shells for clear coating or painting. I've been cleaning up the small toms and have not run across any major divots. Or you could set 'em up, tune 'em up and wail away.
