I suggest caution dealing with amade183. I recently purchased a Rogers tom from these folks, who are located in Claremont, CA. It was my first purchase from them and will be my last.

The drum arrived with signicant variances from the description that will cost me about $150 or more to correct. Two inquiries to seek correction/adjustment have both been completely ignored. In addition, they were very slow to ship.

I don't regularly make an issue over what I receive, but this group is way off the mark.

I've found them to be over-priced, much like p00der2, et al. And the conditions are not usually that good for the asking price. You can tell they know nothing about the products they sell and are only in it for the money....

Well, and let me add something:

They have/had some Pearl FG drums listed. Not only were they way over-priced, but they described them as "Rare drum that cost twice as much as Pearl's Wood-shelled drums at the time" which simply is NOT true.

I'm not trying to play eBay police here, but I did send a FYI message that that was inaccurate and referenced the fact I have old Pearl catalogs and price lists available. He replied and thanked me and said he would change his descriptions, but NEVER did. Reminds me of the stereo-type "used car salesman."

From my perspective, I'd love to see Pearl FG shells (and some other stuff, too) consistently bring the prices he's asking... but I live in a real world...

I have had a few transactions with this seller. Each transaction went very smoothly. Each of the transactions was a trade for something that I had for something that he had, and I wanted. The most recent deal we did was last month. The bass drum arrived with a good reso head that was not the logo reso head in his eBay listing. Zach apologized for having changed the head after the pictures were taken. He thought that he still had the head in the shop, and asked if I still wanted it. I said I did. It arrived yesterday at no charge. I have no reason to say anything negative about Zach or his company. Here's my most recent acquisition from him that now has the reso head with the block letter logo in the picture on the eBay listing instead of the script logo in my picture. This is a 1965 Leedy Shelly Manne set 13, 16, 22 with a 1959 Shelly Manne 5.5x14 snare.

Yes, The bass drum and toms are Champagne sparkle, and the snare is Pink Glass Glitter.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Thanks for the feedback and good to hear both sides of the story. Sure is a nice looking Leedy kit! Interestingly, I just received an email from them. Will follow up as to how it goes.

As to eBay policing, if I see something that looks incorrect or ill described, I send a note. I think many folks appreciate it because they may not realize there is an issue. Fact is, you could help them from getting into a jam because of an ill described listing.

I certainly would appreciate it if I had a listed something incorrectly and had the opportunity to get it straightened out ahead of time. That way there is anybody wants to drop their bid they can do so.

Actually, this is how I do it when I "correct" someone. I try to sound nice and helpful and do my best to not sound like a jerk about it. Most of the time I get a "thank you" type of response, and the description gets changed. With this seller, he said he'd change it but didn't. And I'll admit I get a little more riled when it comes to these Pearl shells. So please take my comments with a grain of salt.

As I mentioned in the other thread that I started (see kevins' link above), I have sold to this particular seller without any issues. As for leedybdp's positive transactions with this guy, that's great. I have had good luck with some VDF members that others haven't had, so the main thing is if you're happy with what you get!!

And PS, it seems they are having growing pains and just moved from one location to another, which obviously can impact responsiveness.

Anyway, if things are corrected, I'll advise. It's one thing to make a mistake and another not to follow up to make it right.

I am advising, as promised, that Amade183 recently sent the proper parts for the Rogers tom I purchased from them a couple of months ago. Condition of what was sent was consistent with the balance of the drum, so all is now satisfactory.
