Akg p2 bass drum mic thoughts ? Last viewed: 4 hours ago

In the market for a new kick drum mic and was wondering if anyone had tried out this mic and what your thoughts were ? I'm on a slight budget but i'm getting store credit for it as a Christmas gift and would like the store credit to go little further, (mic + other drum accessories). I've narrowed the search down to the Shure PG-52, or the AKG-P2

Any and all thoughts are appreciated..:D

Great.. Then I may have to go for the less expensive AKG, seeing as it's also a lot sleeker, but i will wait for some more input from others.. Thanks for the input ! ;)

I was thinking the AKG D-112. That is the industry standard kick mic. The Shure you mentioned is good too, and I would go with that over the AKG P-2. I was thinking of the D-112 when I first read your post. The Shure Beta 52 is a good kick mic too. Those are the two I was thinking about.

Try AEA ribbon mics ,

That's what my/our engineer /producer used on my kick.
