I found on Ebay: Mapex Stainless Steel Precious Metal Series Snare Drum: It looks like it is in excellent condition from the pics and description. The seller is asking basically $200 for it. Is this a fair price for this? If anyone needs to know the item#, let me know. But before I attempt to bid on this (which has been listed several times without any bidders), I need to know if this is worth the price and if not, how much roughly is it worth? It is a 14"x5" steel snare drum with apparently 10 lugs (hard to tell by the pic, but the description says it has 10). Don't know how old. someone please help me out.

Id ask on the Mapex forum...people here are mostly into vintage stuff. A buddy of mine has that Mapex drum you are talking about though...it sounds pretty good. Its heavy duty. I dont know about $200 good....but probably it is if you are into Mapex stuff.

Check this link out if you haven`t already:

This might give you more info to help you decide...For a 10 lug stainless snare, I`d say the price is definitely in the neighbourhood...It`s always nice if you can get it cheaper though!!!
I own a mid 90`s black panther birds eye maple with die cast hoops...It`s a 5.5 x 14 and I bought it brand new...I would never part with this snare...These are high quality snares in my opinion...
Hope this helps...
Cheers

Thanks everyone. Does anyone have a direct link to the Mapex forum?
I have a friend who has that exact drum and will sell it for $150 if you are interested. It is in tip top shape. Like new heads. Email me adamcargin@gmail.com if you like.
