once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Great stuff, Jeff! I'd love to hear that drum corp. playing on those old tubs! Some awesome looking old drums in that batch. I love the vintage drum stick collection!

Thanks for posting those...

John

Cool pics thanks Jeff, hope you had a nice trip. Is it my eyes or is that shelf leaning down? Man if those drums could talk the stories they'd tell I bet.

Glenn.

Glenn - The shelves look straight, the drums are tilted/slanted forward! Probably so they can be seen better from below! Smart idea.

Well by golly that shelf is tilted some, I didnt even notice. Guess my eyes were focused on the drums themselves. They had a drum that you could play, so I did.

And here is some advice for travelers. If your gonna go over the speed limit wear a drum shirt. I got pulled over for doing 75 in a 65 by a nice Iowa state officer. Lucky for me he noticed my Chicago drum show shirt. Had me sit tin the squad car while he checked my record, then we talked drums for five minutes or so. He is a drummer, I answered many questions then, he let me off! And, he told me while I was in my car he was going to issue a ticket. Drumming cops, gotta love them!

Thank you!

Jeff, excellent stop isn't it? I've been out there 5 times and it hasn't been boring yet. Also all done with no government money, all private donations. I give 'em 50 bucks a year which aint much but it does get you admitted and a ride up to the base of the carving.

JMO, if you're headed for Rushmore, skip it (tourist traps galore) and go to Crazy Horse.https://crazyhorsememorial.org/

Believe it or else!

Mike, I think its a real dream catcher.

MickM, we are home, we do not let people know we are on vacation. Our pics and stories come after not during. But you right, Rushmore can be seen without paying for parking but we did it anyway just because. Crazy horse is the largest mad made sculpture in the world, Mount Rushmore is the same size as Crazy Horses face! And you got a great deal for 50 bucks, they were charging 125.00 per person for a van ride to the top.

Thank you!
