My thoughts exactly Mike - problem is they are 2.5 hours away, grrr....

See if seller would do a Partridge Family deal and "meet you halfway".

Working on that "Partridge Family" deal now (although I'm not sure how it relates to the old TV show) since they are being offered to me for $800. Just firming up a few items like serial #s, paper tags and general condition before I pull the trigger.

I'll let know how it all works out ASAP.

This drum thing has completely taken over my life since I'm in the middle of closing on a house yet somehow I still rationalize there's always room for more drums.

Thanks again for the great advice.

Would be a real nice housewarming gift at $800. Good luck and let us know.

Those #'s look like 1972. Fullererton, CA. What's the Dyna #? If they look nice in person and you pay $800, you got a good deal!

Further digging on another forum suggests The Ploughman is closer to the mark.

Thanks again, so 1974 means cast not forged collets right?

I see from the pics on CL that the collets are probably cast, not machined. It was one of CBS's many moves to cut costs, not improve quality. You can tell because the cast collets noses are slightly rounded compared to machined. As long as you don't overcrank them, they should be fine.
