A deal on sticks..

Not often I am super happy with a deal.. but today turned out ok.. Picked up a "lifetime" supply of my favourite Firth 7A American Classics at 80's price... Bear in mind these RRP at around 22.00 AU down here. even to buy bulk from USA it works out at around 16-18 AU a pair after shipping. So I paid under 9.00 AU per pair which is less than 7.00 US..

Description said "May be smoke damaged"... nothing.. no smell, marks, in original packs and all straight as a die..

Cheers

John

Good for you! That would be nice to have a lifetime supply of sticks. How many did you get?

Thank you!

Nice score, John! If you wear them out as slowly as I do, a case of those buggers will last you two lifetimes!

Too many great drums to list here!

Well I bought all they had.. which was 24 pair of wood tip and six pair of the nylon tipped.. Plus I'm a bit like Purdie in that I am easy on sticks these days... I no longer chomp through a pair of 2b's per night and bear permanent callouses..

Cheers

Mark... Much more sensibly priced over there.. I bought some in LA a few years ago but was getting towards the end of those... Bought some heads there too.. hand baggage.. Freight is the killer for us..

Glenn... exactly what had crossed my mind.. Kiln dried & then smoked..

By the way, there is a good Firth factory tour video on Utube... Interesting the amount of detailed processes that they go thru..

Cheers

If it wasn't for the fact that I prefer wood tipped sticks, I'd never have to buy sticks. I wear out the tips on the cymbals after awhile, but I never chew them up on the rims. I just don't like the way nylon sounds on cymbals (harsh to my ears,) otherwise, if I used nylon tipped sticks exclusively, I'd have the same pair for the rest of my life.
