A couple questions about old LUDWIG throws.. Looking for a small missing piece, too.. Last viewed: 1 day ago

Hey! So, I attached some pictures here. As you can see by comparing the two old Ludwig throws, one of them has a broken piece.. Is that little piece something that is replaceable? Where could I find it? Just curious if it's fixable, because it seems like such an easy fix if I could that little piece.. But it's a sort of strange looking little thing- might not just be at any old hardware store or something..

ALSO, can anybody tell me the years of these two throws? Is one older or more "valuable" than the other?

Thanks!

I have a strainer like that that is broken in a different spot. If you want to PM me your adress I'll throw it in the mail to you free of charge. You may be able to get the piece you need off of it and make yours usable again.

As far as the year's the black with silver one is 70's on.The all silver one is 90's on...You would be better to replace the whole handle piece than to try to re-pair the one you have, you would have to drill out the piece were its on the handle.then replace that...Mikey

Thanks. I'm gonna give a go at fixing it since I'll have the spare parts, but we'll see..

Anybody have a suggestion on an upgrade from this strainer? Something that I don't have to drill any new holes in my Acrolite shell that is more quality?

Ludwig P86 - about $40.00 from musiciansfriend.com, interstatemusic.com etc.

It's a bolt on replacement for your P85 and much more user friendly.
