!957 WFL Buddy Rich

Hi Gentlemen,

Found this locally for sale. The snare is dated stamped 1957. Missing the floor tom but the bass is unmolested and so is the 13". What say you is it worth $625.

Thanks again for your input.

I'd buy that. Actually I already have that with the floor Tom. Offer him $550.

Well worth what he's asking, Kelly. If you have to pay his full price, you're still getting a set of some of the best vintage drums ever made. Those are going to clean up really nice too. Only needs the floor tom, it's not 'mission impossible.' WMP floors from that era turn up on fleabay fairly regularly. Wouldn't be a terribly long wait for one to pop up for sale.

I'd buy it in a hot minute - full asking price, no questions or haggling. It's a 57'! Those are aged 3-ply mahogany shells under there! FAT - CITY!

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Picked up the '57 WFL WMP today for $550. just as drumbum suggested including bass, Buddy Rich snare and 13" tom. The kit needs a whole detailing with new heads all around. The bearing edges are all good and clean. The tone is so warm with the 3-ply mahogany. John, you're right its FAT and WARM :)

There is a slight crack in the wrap on the 22. I was wondering if anyone may know how to treat this? More pics to follow.

Nice! You got a Great deal! Looks like they just need everything polished up. As for the split in the wrap, its common for WMP on a drum that old. My 13 inch has a slight split, not as deep as yours but its there.

Mine were in pretty bad shape when I got them. Here they are now. They are set up to play, meaning the tom is mounted on a snare stand etc... However, I do have all the original hoop mounting hardware. I also have my blue sparkle Pioneer set up in these pics, but I have a matching 3x13 Be-Bop snare.
