77-78 Slingerland Jupiter Outfit

Loading...

Hey all, just joined this forum. Was kinda curious what my 77-78 Slingerland Jupiter Outfit kit might be worth today. I'm the original owner, and had to order them from the factory in Niles....back in the day because the store I bought them from didn't have them in stock. I still remember the smell of the fresh wood when I picked them up and they were still the separate cardboard box they shipped in. The finish is Black Chrome which I think is still an awesome looking finish....well the drums have seen better days, I was on the road with them during late 70's early 80's playing around Champaign/Urbana, IL, Chicago, St. Louis loop. Kept playing them up until about 14 yrs ago when I picked up a really nice Roland V-drum kit. I use a combination of Zildjan and Paiste cymbals.

I found the specs on this website that match it exactly, brought back some nastalgia when I saw the catelog, the very one I perused when I was about 19 and shopping for those drums. I will try to find some pictures and post them. This is a cool site !!!

Found a picture, not a good view of the whole kit but enough for an idea what it is. And a few bonus pics of when I was on the road in the 70's 80's.

Here is a pic of my Slingerlands. This picture was taken when I picked them up from the seller. As you can see they were not set up correctly.

Hi DocMatrix... and welcome to the forum!Welcome

Fun to reminisce, isn't it?!!

A very cool kit in its time. When it comes to value, the sad truth is that concert tom kits aren't generating that much interest any more. In your case, I've no doubt that the drums have more value to you, in sentimental terms, than what you can expect to get for them. I'm not quite sure you could even expect $1000 for them. Let's see what others have to say.

Thanks for sharing your kit and a walk down memory lane!

Beautiful drums.Idrum4fun is right about the concert toms, although I know Canopus is trying to market them again. So I would just hold on to them to see what shakes.

I wish I still had my Ludwig standards, and my hollywood kits that I sold in the late 70's.I know if those drums could talk, they would have some tales to tell.
