70's Slingerland Drum Set Help Last viewed: 6 minutes ago

Loading...

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for help on identifying my kit along with any other information about it including what it might be worth.

I think it's from around '71-'73 and the serial numbers are 66xxx except for the snare, which is 61xxx. Here are the dimensions:

Bass: 14" x 22"

Snare: 5" x 14"

Tom: 9" x 13"

Tom: 16" x 16"

I think the finish is sparking black pearl. It has Trixon hardware and a vintage 16" Zildjian ride/crash, and 13" Paiste hi-hat. I also have the original Humes fiber cases. The drum heads are all original Slingerlands too.

I'm thinking this is the Deluxe Outfit No, 1N, but that is only a guess.

Any help you can offer would be appreciated.

I agree that it looks great. The market for Slingerlands is down, or so I've heard, so I don't think you'd get any major money. Maybe $600 to $800. Just a guess.

Good luck.

Your kit is a beauty, you are some what correct on the model number a true 1N deluxe kit has a 14x20" bass drum not a 22" the kit just the drums in good condition and with the sound king snare in good condition. $850.-$1000.00 this is a rare color. the entire kit maybe $1200.00 we would need to see the cymbal stamp's? the paiste is it a 602?

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

That is crazy! I am putting the finishing touches on restoring this same kit! Sizes, color and everything. It's even a 5 digit black & silver niles badge. My kit is in the 5XXXX range. I believe mine is a 70 or 71. It still has the older beige chocolate milk interiors that I believe make them 3 ply from the 60's. What color are your interiors ? Drums looks great!!! Now I know what mine will look like!

That is a nice kit, how are the bearing edges on the shells? I own a late 70's - 80's Magnum kit, one of my favorites forsure. Through research I have done identifying the precise age of a Slingerland kit by serial number is very challenging and well, impossible. Apparently Slingerland had a bin of mixed up tags so the drums age cannot be identified accurately except for the design of badge relating to era of badge design. there is a website showing all of the different badges. Here's what it looks like under the hood. I'd say the shells are in very good condition.
