Hey guys,

Can anyone help me out with some info's on these and if there a great buy? i am in australia and so everything is pricey especially vintage drums. i played a similar set a couple of months ago and loved them. i am looking at getting rid of my gretsch renowns and puchasing these if the guy still has them. i love the vintage sound and even though my gretsch looks and sounds great, i just cant get that vintage kit out of my head.

Can you please be a little more specific? There can be a bit of a difference from early to late 70's Ludwig drums. Any specific sizes or configuration in mind?

They look good to me, providing the wrap issues are minor. That era of Ludwig produced some nice sounding quality drums.

You can always offer a bit less if you think price is too high.

Those are 3ply clear interiors, can be some really nice sounding shells. Here in the USA, $1200 would be too much for the four drums IMO. However, if you want a good sounding set of vintage Ludwigs and you have the cash, go for it. Life is short!

Early 70s 4pc. with 3ply maple/poplar/maple shells w/ clear maple interiors. Awesome sounding live and highly sought after by studio musicians... I'd say that if there are no issues other than the seam, $1200. is a good deal considering the sizes. No doubt some of the best drums Ludwig ever made...They will continue to go up in value as more and more younger drummers are finding out just how fantastic the vintage drums truly are...Go for it!

3 ply maple luddys are the best sounding drums in my opinion. Played my red sparkle set last night live and they sounded amazing!!

Excellent price as they are THERE....and not here in the states. They have a size limit on items shipped to Australia and the last time I checked to send a kit, it alone was over $700. Too big to ship USPS.

hey thanks for the feedback guys. i messaged him yesterday and he still has the kit. the only problem i have is that the kit is 8 hours away and he wont post it. i could get a mate to pick them up and at least i know i have them and when i sell my Gretsch kit (renown series) i would have enough cash to go and get them....bloody tough decision to make!
